Mission, Vision, Values
Our Mission
Kudai Centre strives to be an organization for young Tamil women to feel safe and confident while transitioning into independent living.
Our Vision
A physical transitional home that prepares young Tamil women across Ontario for independent living.
Our Values
At Kudai, we value:
- A safer environment where people can feel genuinely comfortable. Physical, mental and emotional boundaries will be respected. Others’ identities and backgrounds will be respected. One’s right to privacy and safety will be respected.
- Trained and qualified professionals who can guarantee confidentiality, up-to-date knowledge/practice and are trained in their respective fields and regulated professions.
- Client-centered service that uses an integrated approach to cater towards the unique needs and goals of each of our clients. We understand that not everyone has the same journey, outlook or goals. One method of treatment that is helpful for one person may not work for someone else.
- Building Independence: We value every woman’s right to learn how to live independently. We define independence as being able to accomplish one’s daily living activities, securing independent economic resources, having a sense of self separate from personal relationships and community norms/ traditions, and being aware of the stigmas associated with the view of an independent woman. In cases where one is not able to perform tasks independently, knowing how to access support is a necessary skill. Building independence may look different for every client. For one person, it may be living on their own, whereas for another person, it may be securing stable income or learning to cook healthy meals. It may also be a combination of goals. We believe in supporting our clients to be equipped with the skills and tools to build independence – whatever that may mean to them.
- Community Collaboration: We believe in being a part of our larger community. There are already several great professional organizations, members and initiatives in place. Instead of reinventing the wheel, we aim to belong among the community, offering cross-organizational referrals and collaborating on projects to improve the effectiveness of our services.
